Destination Resilience Planning

Hotel Resilient is participating through Risklayer GmbH in a consortium of university and private sector partners with the aim to improve risk-informed decision-making in Europe by co-developing standardised framework for multi-hazard risk management. The proposed project will have a decidedly sectoral approach, with a key focus on Hotels and Tourism. A key question addressed in this ambitious research project is how could natural hazard risks be better managed in tourism destinations through a multi-scale and multi-hazard approach that includes interrelated and systemic risks.

Hotel Resilient will work closely with Hotrec, the umbrella association of Hotels and Restaurants in Europe, as well as other key partners such as the Universidad de La Laguna leading the case study in the Canary Islands and the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC), leading the case study in Veneto to develop methods and tools that allow tourism stakeholders to assess dynamic multi-hazard risks and support them in finding effective Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation solutions. Together with Hotrec, Hotel Resilient will bridge the gap between science and practice by connecting project results to relevant policy and practice stakeholders representing hotels in Europe and beyond.
