In Ecuador, Hotel Resilient worked with the Ecuadorian Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) to review and complement MINTUR’s biosafety protocols for the safe reopening of accommodation services and food and beverage sectors with international health and safety guidelines and protocols, through a project funded by Sequa gGmbH, a development organization of the German industry that operates globally is responsible for setting up and operating the Import Promotion Desk (IPD). The project started in July 2020 and was active until the end of October 2020.

Following the development of a Technical Reference Guide to complement MINTUR’s protocols, a comprehensive training of trainers (ToT) was also conducted with MINTUR, Hotel Federation of Ecuador (Ahotec) and other stakeholders in Ecuador.

The training process lasted three months, and was based on the biosecurity protocols developed for food and beverage and lodging establishments, which were aligned with international standards. Hotel Resilient also provided MINTUR with comprehensive COVID-19 e-learning modules to train further stakeholders in the industry. The Training of Trainers (TOT) Workshops conducted by Hotel Resilient have culminated with the delivery of certificates participants from the Ecuador Ministry of Tourism and the Hotel Federation of Ecuador (Ahotec).
